Questions about CWA services
Our four decades of experience have taught us that informed clients are empowered clients. If you don’t see what you’re looking for, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Our team is always happy to schedule a conversation to address your specific needs.
What is the biggest difference between CWA and my local CPA/advisors?
One, experience. We’ve specialized in serving the dental industry for over 40 years. Two, our breadth of services. CWA offers solutions for growing your practice, strategies on how and when to bring in associates or partners, personal budgeting, investments and wealth accumulation, estate planning, compilation accounting and much more.
How much can CWA save me in taxes?
Of course, everyone’s situation is different. We’ll be better able to determine the opportunity that exists for you during a phone consultation. We won’t encourage you to hire CWA until we determine that the value and savings you’ll see exceed the fees you pay us.
What if I only want accounting and tax filing?
We offer a la carte tax and accounting services, along with proactive advisory support, for practices that only need the essentials.
Can CWA work with my local accountant?
We can certainly work with your existing accountant. Your CWA financial advisory team is invested in your preferences and success. Many of our strategies will be made from your accounting books; with that in mind, we have a particular way we perform accounting in-house that we have tailored to dental practices. Your CWA advisor can talk with you about your situation, and if there are any adjustments they would recommend.
Does CWA manage investments as well?
Yes. Unlike many financial planning firms, many of our CPAs are also registered IARs — Investment Advisor Representatives. Your financial advisor can look at your financial situation, identify areas that may save money through tax-advantaged environments, and then help you determine the best way to grow your savings. CWA manages over $4.2 billion in assets and offers fees lower than market average to CWA financial planning clients. Cain Watters and Associates, LLC is a Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
Why is joining CWA now more important than ever?
It’s been a volatile few years. Now is the time to give yourself the peace of mind that comes from knowing you have a secure financial plan to weather the storm and a sound growth strategy to maximize opportunities as the clouds part. With customized tax strategies, financial planning, wealth management solutions and more, CWA is ready to help you make this your best year yet.
Why do dentists need specialized financial planning?
Dentists face unique challenges – high student debt, expensive practice ownership, tax complexities, and irregular income patterns. A financial planner who understands dentistry can create strategies specific to these needs.
How can financial planning help me buy or start a dental practice?
We guide dentists through practice acquisition financing, cash flow projections, tax-efficient structures, and loan negotiations to ensure ownership is sustainable and profitable.
What retirement strategies work best for dentists?
Dentists benefit from tailored retirement planning that includes defined benefit plans, 401(k) strategies, and tax-advantaged savings options designed for high-income professionals.
Can you help with student loan repayment?
Yes. We create customized repayment strategies, including refinancing analysis, income-driven repayment evaluation, and balancing loan payoff with wealth-building goals.
How do you help dentists reduce taxes?
We design tax-efficient strategies using practice structure, retirement plans, deductions, and investment planning tailored to dental professionals.
Do you work with associate dentists as well as practice owners?
Yes. We support associates and independent contractors with debt management, savings strategies, and early career wealth building, as well as practice owners with more complex tax and investment planning.
How do you help dentists grow their wealth outside of dentistry?
We create investment strategies beyond the dental practice—real estate, retirement accounts, and diversified portfolios to build long-term financial independence.
Do you help with practice transition and exit planning?
Yes. We provide valuation guidance, partnerships, tax-efficient exit strategies, and retirement-income planning for dentists who sell or retire from their practices.
What makes your firm different from general financial planners?
While we support all small business owners, we do put a focus on dentists. Our expertise in student debt, practice ownership, tax strategies, and exit planning ensures advice that’s practical and relevant to your profession.
