Our Vision
The firm of Cain, Watters & Associates was established in 1984 and serves over 1,200 clients, primarily dentists. When Darrell Cain started the firm, he wanted to position us as the trusted financial advisor of our clients. Initially, the firm did not do compliance work; however, these services were eventually added in order to provide a full range of options to our existing clients. Nonetheless, only 20% of our revenue comes from accounting and tax services, while 80% of our revenue is still derived from fee-only financial counseling. We realize that many CPA firms are afraid to charge for financial planning services or are afraid to refer their existing clientele to such a firm, not knowing what result they are going to create. Therefore, we have spent the last two decades creating a reputation and a referral base, particularly in dentistry, to those people who want to acquire financial planning advice.
Typically, we consult with our clients on an annual basis via a full-day meeting in Dallas. In our experience, the discipline of having to meet with an advisor every year and dedicating a full day to reviewing a financial plan has been instrumental in helping people accumulate money. During this meeting, we will focus on your investments, cash flow planning, tax planning, break-even analysis, retirement plan analysis and funding, educational funding, and review the appropriate time to evaluate and transition your practice, if applicable.
For this purpose, we are also certified valuation analysts and we assist clients in the transition and valuation of approximately 50 to 70 dental practices annually. Our methodology to transfer the equity in a dental practice smoothly from one practitioner to another has added to the firm’s growth. With more than 21 years of experience in transitioning hundreds of dental practices to multi-doctor partnerships, we have the expertise and the techniques in place, which allow us to assist you in the sale of your practice. Each year we hold at least two Practice Transition Seminars designed to educate clients and potential buyers on this process.
Additionally, we have established an affiliated, Internet-based company called the Intranet Dental Community, which offers online, password protected access to all of the client's financial information prepared by our firm. Our clients have access to their information on demand. This value-added communication tool is useful in their desire to interact with us on a daily basis. All of our clients have membership in the dental community.

In the last five years we have grown to over 100 employees in response to this continuous stream of referrals.
